Taught 5th grade in the Carbon Valley area for 7 years before attending Bear Valley Bible Institute in Denver, CO. After graduation, he and his family moved to Durango, CO, so that Clayton could attend the Durango Church of Christ Intern Program. Clayton graduated from the Intern Program on January 27th 2019. He and his family moved back to Frederick and began their work with the Carbon Valley Church of Christ on February 3rd, 2019.
Began studying at Bear Valley Bible Institute in Denver, CO after completing his active-duty contract in the Marine Corps. He graduated from Bear Valley in 2016 and then started working with the youth group at the Keenesburg church of Christ. He married Rylee in 2018 who joined him in his ministry, and then in spring of 2020 they made the decision to get involved with the work at the Carbon Valley church of Christ. It became very evident that there was a need for more work to be done with the church, so Ben left his secular full-time job on June 8th 2021 in order to be able to work alongside the Johnsons ministering at Carbon Valley.
The Bible makes it clear that the church is to be led by a plurality of elders (Acts 14:23; 20:17-f; Titus 1:5) who meet qualifications as outlined in I Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. These men are responsible for protecting, feeding, and guiding the church. Elders help the spiritual direction of the church by shepherding souls, making leadership decisions that will impact the congregation spiritually, addressing sin issues in the congregation, teaching truth, and refuting error. As of right now, we do not have men serving in this position. This by no means nullifies the fact that this group is a part of the Lord’s body, but we earnestly desire to have elders in the near future and are praying for men to serve in this capacity.
Deacons are qualified men, according to I Timothy 3:8-12, who have been selected to serve the church in various areas of ministry. They are to take charge of the ministries they have been given and faithfully carry out their respective duties, freeing up the elders time to focus on the spiritual matters of the church while the deacons take care of other important, but less spiritually significant tasks. We do not currently have elders to oversee and appoint deacons, so these positions are not currently being filled. We are praying diligently for men who are able to fill these roles and lead the church here the way God wants the church to be led.
