Simply Christians

At the Carbon Valley Church of Christ we are family. We are close, connected, and we love growing more closely connected to Jesus. But to be honest, many groups do community well. Many groups offer relationship and share in life together. Where we believe we are unique is in our plea to get back to living by the Bible only. We don’t really want to be called anything other than Christians, and we love the simplicity of the pure religion found in the Scriptures. You see, the true authority in life is the Lord and He has left us with everything we need to have relationship with Him and with one another. So when you visit our worship assembly or join us for Bible class, we are diligent to uncover the will of God for our lives from every passage we study. And though the New Testament is our primary source for how we ought to live and please God today, we believe the Old Testament continues to teach us about the nature of God and offers countless lessons for living a holy life before Him. Due to the fact that we believe the Bible is actually from God, (inspired, infallible, and relevant for all time) we place a premium on Biblically accurate teaching and practice. We believe unity and thereby community, is only possible based on the Word. The teachings of the Bible provide the means by which we come into fellowship with Christ and one another. Unity is based on understanding the Scriptures alike. We make no claim to know or have every answer, but we make it our aim to understand and learn what God wants from us in life. There is no one leader but Jesus. There is no authority but the Bible and God in Heaven. For this reason, we appeal to nothing for our guide in life except the Bible.

A divided Christianity throughout the world hasn’t been a good testimony to the lost. We wring our hands and despair the state of division throughout Christendom. What gives us hope and encouragement is knowing that we are striving to be like the Christians of the New Testament. If we do what they did, we will become what they were…Genuine Christians. If learning to live and practice as a New Testament Christian sounds appealing to you, we’d like nothing more than to meet you and usher you into our growing family in Christ. 

We only desire to be genuinely, whole-heartedly, Christian.
